Who We Are

The Virginia Dance Committee was initially founded as the Campaign for Dance in order to advocate for the creation of the dance minor at the University of Virginia.
After its creation, the Dance Committee continued as an independent student group that worked to promote the Dance Program and create a community for dance on grounds. Now, Virginia Dance Committee serves as the student branch of the Dance Program to continue to promote opportunities for students in dance.
VDC is composed of an executive team of dance minors in the Department of Drama and Dance working to host student events and create artistic spaces for anyone interested in dance at UVA. Virginia Dance Committee seeks to support the academic dance program in the Department of Drama and Dance by hosting guest artists in dance and connecting members of different dance organizations at UVA.
